Welcome to REAL China Life

Want to know what it's like to live, teach or visit China? Congrats, you've just come across a site that provides REAL information about living and teaching English in China.
Too many people don't get all of their questions answered about China before they go, like us, so we wanted to help provide as much information to those curious about traveling to the most populous country in the world. As of 2010, China has become the worlds largest exporter and stood as the second-largest economy in the world, after the US, having surpassed Japan in 2001.
We are the Burnetts. We came to China to just teach English for a semester and ended up staying an extra two months on top of our committed length of time. Fascinated at this country's ancient culture, friendly people and food, we had to share our experiences. China is like no other. It's a creature on its own that knows how to treat a faraway guest like a member of its family.

We loved China, but please understand, they live with so much less than most of the world. There were many things we had to live without and make sacrifices so see how they really lived. The interesting part was making these changes in our own lives. It really helped us understand these wonderful people more and helped us love them even more. Our site really explains most everything we found out about living a short life in China, what to expect and how you too can do it .
We in no way can cover what it's like to live in all of the many provinces. Our information and experiences reflect our short documented time in Hunan, China and our travels around this area and to many of the popular tourist locations all over China. We often still communicate with our students from all over China and would love to pass along any questions, comments or concerns directly with them if you would like.

We found that China will surround you with friends that could turn into life long friendships. We have enjoyed these friendships for many years. There is one thing that is for certain while traveling/living here, you'll never know what to expect. So be ready for anything!!
We wish you the best as you enjoy such a miraculous and interesting place.
Thanks for visiting our site and please feel free to let us know what you think, especially cause we love to hear from fellow teachers and travelers.
Sincerely,
Ben and Michelle Burnett

The Beijing Games were the most watched Games in Olympic history. China was the host of the 2008 Summer Olympics games, and this was their theme song, "Welcome to Beijing." Several hundred million people watched all over the world as more than 40 world records and over 30 Olympic records were broken.
China put on an opening ceremony that was unforgettable, with breathtaking venues and amazing achievements by their athlethes. They finished with the most gold medals over all, 51, and 100 medals all together, second most at the games (United States finished with 110 medals overall). From August 8th to 24th approximately 11,028 athletes from 204 NOCs participated in 302 events in 28 sports.
When we arrived in China, they played and sang this song for us while we were on our bus for most of our trip to our University. They are very proud of having the Olympics here in China and this song is loved by all Chinese we found around the school, we must of heard it at least 50 times within our first month in China.
